Marcos Rojo has mustered just 21 minutes in the Community Shield this term, but the player’s agent claims Manchester United still wants to keep him.

The defender isn’t going to Valencia as reports suggest, according to Carlos Goncalves, and will remain to battle for his place with the likes of Luke Shaw, Chris Smalling, and Daley Blind.

“Manchester United rejected several offers from England and from abroad to sell the player,” insisted Rojo’s representative. “Manchester United want him to stay.”

The Argentinian was signed from Sporting Lisbon for £16 million in 2014 by Jose Mourinho’s predecessor, Louis van Gaal, but has failed to make a starting berth his own due to repeated injury issues and struggles for form.

He made just 16 league appearances last season despite the long-term absence of Shaw, and was widely expected to be shipped out as new boss Mourinho looks to make his mark in Stretford.

United has started the season with three consecutive league wins, and welcomes hated rival Manchester City – another side with a 100 percent record – to Old Trafford on Sept. 10.
